TWS|easy Request
Requests of predefined Batch Schedules by End User.
IT production aims to achieve the highest possible degree of automation to reduce costs. Modern scheduling systems like TWS for z/OS offer extensive possibilities for the definition, planning and execution of periodic recurring schedules.
Yet, there are batch schedules in every enterprise where execution is dependent on external factors, which are unknown to the batch scheduling system (ad-hoc requests).
In these instances it is usually a member of the relevant user department who sends the request to production planning or production control. As there are no alternatives this request is done by phone, fax or E-mail. This process is easy to disturb, dependent on personal capacity and therefore unsatisfactory and unproductive for everybody involved. More problems occur in the charge back of the costs for these ad-hoc requests between departments or even other companies (outsourcers).
TWS|easy Request automates the process for ad-hoc requests in TWS for z/OS:
- definition of requestable batch processes
- definition of authorised users or groups
- user requests
- authorisation and approval mechanisms
- execution in TWS for z/OS
- collection of data for reporting purposes
The obvious advantage of TWS|easy Request:
- high degree of automation and related cost reduction with ad-hoc requests
- work for product planning becomes easier
- product planning still controls production execution if required
- user does not need system knowledge
- open user interface facilitates the integration into existing systems on all platforms including the Web
- comprehensible process
- basis for cost control and cost charge back
